Tū Tika©

2025 sees the launch of our new programme Tū Tika© (‘Standing strong and doing what’s right’).

Tū Tika© is a programme, collaboratively designed with students, which rolls what was previously Body Talk© and Sensitive Subjects© into one: providing an updated, engaging and relevant learning experience for our tamariki.
Yr 5/6 and Yr 7/8 programmes available: just ask us for a breakdown of what the standardised programmes include per year group (&, as always, you are welcome to ‘pick ‘n’ mix’ content to suit your community).
Tū Tika© translates to ‘Standing strong and doing what’s right’ & includes age appropriate information, activities and facilitated discussion about topics related to social media, perceptions of body image, self esteem, cyber safety, media manners, on-line influencers, online imagery, lifestyle choices & beliefs including and respectful friendships.

This programme is designed to stimulate discussion & reasoning skills along with increasing emotional intelligence. By providing a safe, non-judgemental space, young people are guided to seek information, challenge ideas and find resources.

Nest support schools in ensuring a safe school culture and are available for assistance in formulating policy and procedure. All Nest Educators are trained in responding to disclosures and will enquire and adhere to school policy and procedure.
This Programme is deliberately NOT about eating disorders, weight or food pyramids, but rather seeks to move EDEN’s ‘LOVE YOUR BODY’, Butterfly Foundation’s ‘Free to BE’  and Dove’s ‘BE REAL’ concepts into action.

Currently young people are faced with more pressure to look “perfect” than at any other time. It is vital to combat this pressure by providing young people with information, alternative perspectives & tools for change.
